Information

Dr. Andrea I. Doseff is currently a professor in the Department of Physiology and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University (MSU). Dr. Doseff obtained her Ph.D. from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, working in cell cycle regulation, and completed her postdoc in apoptosis at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Dr. Doseff was a faculty member at Ohio State University from 2002 to 2017 and joined MSU in August 2017. She leads a multidisciplinary team recognized nationally and internationally and is focused on understanding the protein and gene regulatory networks regulating cell death and immune regulation. Dr. Doseff's work focuses on understanding the mechanisms that control monocyte/macrophage differentiation and cell fate in the context of inflammatory diseases, including cancer, obesity, and acute inflammation. Her studies have uncovered novel molecular mechanisms responsible for the anti-inflammatory, anti-obesogenic, and anti-carcinogenic activities of dietary plant flavonoids. She serves as associate editor of the journals Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Nutrients. She is the director of the STEM post-baccalaureate program SIGuE (Success in Graduate Education: https://bmb.natsci.msu.edu/graduate-program/sigue/), which is funded by the National Science Foundation. She has devoted all her academic career to increasing diversity in STEM disciplines.
