Andrea Borghini is a Researcher at the Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC CNR) in Pisa, where he works at the Molecular Epidemiology and Genetic Research Unit. He is involved in research projects aimed at investigating the genetic and epigenetic components of cardiovascular diseases, in particular in the onset of congenital and hereditary heart diseases, through the application of next-generation sequencing technologies. Another key strand of his research is the study of the long-term health risks (cancer and non-cancer effects) resulting from medical exposure to ionizing radiation in paediatric patients with congenital heart disease. He has published 60 papers (Google Scholar h-index=21) and he has presented his findings at several national and international meetings. He has received important awards, such as the Young Research Award (DSB-CNR) by the CNR-Department of Biomedical Science and the prestigious MELODI (Multidisciplinary European Low Dose Initiative) Award.
