Dr. Qiji Jim Zhu received his Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Northeastern University in 1992 under the direction of Professor Jack Warga. He is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Western Michigan University. He held visiting positions at the University of Montreal, the Center for Experiment and Constructive Mathematics at Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria, the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University, the Shanghai Logistic Institute at Fudan University, the Risk Management Institute at the Singapore National University, the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at New Castle University, the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, and the Department of Mathematics at Aachen University. Dr. Zhu is interested in variational techniques and their applications in non-smooth analysis, optimization, control theory, and mathematical finance.
