Liliana Amaral Féris holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1995), a Master’s degree in Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1997), and a Ph.D. in Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2000). In 2003 she received the Young Scientist award in the Graduate category. She held a postdoctoral degree at the University of Queensland, Australia (2005). She was a professor at the Lutheran University of Brazil for 9 years (2001–2009) and was the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in
Engineering: Energy, Environment, and Materials (PPGEAM) and of the Petrochemical Research and Development Center (CEPPED) for 6 years. She has worked as a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and in the Postgraduate Program in Chemical Engineering (UFRGS) since 2010. As Associate Professor III, in 2021 she assumed the coordination of the Postgraduate Program in Chemical Engineering (UFRGS), which she already coordinated between 2013 and 2014. She has experience in the
area of sanitary engineering, with an emphasis on advanced water treatment techniques,
working mainly on the treatment of industrial liquid effluents, and advanced water treatment of supply water to remove emerging pollutants, based on ozonation techniques.
