Meirbek Mussatayev is currently with the School of Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol, U.K. His academic journey began in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in automation control in railway systems, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from a prestigious Russian university (2011-2013). After earning his master’s, Meirbek joined a high-precision rover construction manufacturer in Kazakhstan, marking the start of his professional career. In 2013, he took on a role managing time and frequency primary standards at the national metrology institute, later joining the research and metrology team at a geophysics company, a branch of Kazatomprom National Company. He then served as Lead Metrology and Verification at Tengizchevroil, a Chevron-based oil and gas project. Meirbek earned his Ph.D. from the Guilin University of Electronic Technology, China.
From 2015 to 2022, he was CEO of Mangilik El Innovations LLP, where he led metrology outsourcing services for the telecommunications sector. Since 2020, Meirbek has been at the forefront of developing a directional eddy current probe for in-line inspection of Automated Fibre Placement, under the guidance of Dr. Robert Hughes and Prof. Paul Wilcox at the University of Bristol. He is an active member of FIND-CDT, U.K., the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), U.K., and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), USA.
