He explores Latin American religious landscape: How does modernity, that is the differentiation of social functions, separation of spheres of values, different iterations of capitalism and the expansion of human rights, affect Latin Americans’ religious experience? During the Fall of 2019, he delivered The D’Arcy Lectures, at Campion Hall, University of Oxford, UK. His latest book, coming in the summer of 2021 (O.U.P), is entitled Religion in Latin America. An Enchanted Modernity.
