Dr. Fraser D. Russell is an Associate Professor in the School of Health, University of the Sunshine Coast. After being awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1994, Fraser completed successful post-doctoral appointments at the University of Cambridge, UK (1994–1998), the University of Otago, NZ (1998–2000), and the University of Queensland, Australia (2000–2004). In 2005, he joined the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, where he is the current Discipline Lead of Biomedical Sciences in the School of Health. Fraser's team is investigating the medicinal benefits of compounds isolated from Australian stingless bee propolis, with tomentosenol A being developed as a potential treatment for hypertrophic scarring. Fraser is an active member of the Australasian Society for Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (1989–present).
