Information

I am an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences, University of Torino. Since 2019, I have been the director of the Master program (2nd level) of Advanced Biostatistics of the University of Padova. In the last five years, I have worked extensively on the topic of Machine Learning. Since 2019, I have been the national coordinator of the Italian Society of Medical Statistics and Clinical Epidemiology Working Group on Machine Learning in Clinical Research. I have worked extensively in the field of surveillance systems as a team member and scientific leader of the European Project Surveillance System on Suffocation Injuries due to Foreign Bodies, founded by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Consumer Policy (DGSANCO). Within this project, I have developed skills in analyzing data from the registry and performing quantitative risk assessments using both standard statistical models and machine learning approaches. Since 2019, I have been a member of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) International Study Group. The HBSC study is a cross-national survey on well-being and health behaviours in young people that is conducted every four years in 44 countries and regions across Europe and North America, in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe. I am involved in the analysis of the data collected and in the design of the survey.
