Luis M. Gandía received the M.Sc. degree in chemistry and the Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of the Basque Country, San Sebastián, Spain, in 1988 and 1993, respectively. He joined the Department of Applied Chemistry, Public University of Navarre, Pamplona, Spain, in 1993, as an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering. In 2010, he became Professor of Chemical Engineering. He leads the Chemical Reactors and Renewable Resources Valorization research group at the Public University of Navarre. His research activity includes chemical reactor and microreactor engineering, biofuels production, heterogeneous catalysis, computational fluid dynamics, hydrogen production from water electrolysis and hydrogen as a fuel for internal combustion engines. Prof. Gandía is member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the American Chemical Society (ACS), Spanish Society of Catalysis (SECAT), and Spanish Hydrogen Association (AEH2). On August 2019 Prof. Gandía became Section Editor of the Materials Science section (https://www.cell.com/heliyon/materials-science) of Heliyon, ISSN: 2405-8440. Heliyon Materials Science is a section of Heliyon that is fully dedicated to publishing valuable research in a broad range of specialties, enabling the section to support both traditional, advanced and multidisciplinary material science research. Heliyon is an open access journal published by CellPress, an imprint of Elsevier.
