Ruyi Sha graduated from the College of Food Science and Engineering of Jiangnan University with a bachelor's degree in June 2006. He entered the Department of Chemical Engineering of Zhejiang University to pursue a master's degree in September 2006, advanced to a doctoral degree in March 2008, and was awarded a PhD in Engineering of Biochemicals in June 2012. He entered Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology as a teacher in June 2012, and was selected for the Outstanding Young Teachers' Funding program at Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology in 2017.
