: In the state of Minas Gerais, Normative Deliberation (DN) Copam nº 214/2017, amended by DN Copam nº238/2020, establishes the guidelines and procedures for the preparation and execution of the Environmental EducationProgram (PEA) in the licensing processes of projects subject to an Environmental Impact Study/Environmental ImpactReport (EIA/Rima). The present work aimed to analyze the PEA present in the EIA/Rima of the projects submittedto the environmental licensing process to Supram Sul de Minas in the period from September 2018 to May 2023. Tothis end, documentary research was carried out and an attempt was made to assess whether the enterprises presentedthe PEA and whether they follow the Terms of Reference (TR) made available by DN, as well as the content of thePEA presented. With the analysis of the 29 EIA/Rima processes, 65% of the processes have a PEA, and of these 37%follow the TR of DN Copam nº 214/2017, however, only 34% of the EIA/Rima have a PEA with specific content,or that is, applicable to the reality of the enterprise. As an example, the same PEA was repeated in three differentprocesses, highlighting how the preparation of PEAs is often carried out in a generic way. It is concluded that in manycases, companies neglect the importance of environmental education as an integral part of the licensing process andpoint to the need for greater emphasis on the dissemination of environmental information. Therefore, it is necessaryfor authorities, such as Supram Sul de Minas, to exercise greater severity in the evaluation of EIA/Rima processes forgranting environmental licenses.

The abandonment of domestic animals in public places is a severe socio-environmental problem, hence municipal kennels are essential to the management of these animals. However, many kennels do not have an effective environmental management system, as they have limited financial and human resources. Thus, this work aimed to identify the environmental aspects and impacts of a kennel located in the south of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and also to propose low-cost solutions for reducing significant environmental impacts. The significant environmental impacts of the kennel are water and soil pollution, resulting from wastewater generation, besides animal feces and unused and expired medicines disposal. Therefore, it was proposed the construction of a septic tank followed by an anaerobic filter and a biodigester, and also the correct disposal of the pharmaceuticals. Finally, the kennel is essential to the zoonose control in the locality.
