Anchi Shi obtained his BSc degree in hydrology and engineering geology and PhD degree in geotechnical engineering from Hohai University, China in 1985 and 2005, respectively. From 1985 to 2005, he worked in Three Gorges Geotechnical Consultants Co., Ltd., and was the principal of the investigation of the double-line five-level shiplock of the Three Gorges Project and one of the principals of the investigation of the Three Gorges Project during the construction period. Since July 2005, he has been working for PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited, in charge of the investigation of Baihetan Hydropower Station on Jinsha River. His research interests include (1) engineering geology and rock mechanics of dam foundation, slope and underground cavern, and (2) geological disasters such as landslide and debris flow.
