Since the launch of ChatGPT for public use, educators have expressed a variety of concerns about its integration into educational settings. This paper has been written to provide an in-depth examination of these issues and explore the potential use of ChatGPT in educational contexts. Specifically, it aims to (i) present an argument in favor of incorporating ChatGPT into education and (ii) provide educators with a set of strategies and techniques to ensure responsible and successful implementation of ChatGPT in teaching or research. By doing so, this paper aims to promote a more informed discussion around the use of ChatGPT in education.

The term emerging technology (ET) has been frequently used by IT professionals and academics. However, little research has shed light on this term and specified its characteristics and what it means. Therefore, this paper aims to define and conceptualize the characteristics of ET. These characteristics are uncertainty, network effect, unseen social and ethical concerns, cost, limitation to particular countries, and a lack of investigation and research. Several examples of ETs are given to validate these characteristics.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the first country in the world to appoint a State Minister for Artificial Intelligence (AI). The UAE is embracing AI in society at the governmental level, which is leading to a new generations of digital government (which we are labeling Gov. 3.0). This paper argues that the decision to embrace AI will lead to positive impacts on society, including businesses, organizations and individuals, as well as on the AI industry itself. This paper discusses the societal impacts of AI at a macro (country-wide) level. This article is part of the special track on AI and Society.

This study aims to investigate the impact of ChatGPT on enhancing the learning outcomes and academic performance of high school students in physics, specifically focusing on its role in aiding the understanding of challenging topics such as Newton’s second law of motion. This study employs a quasi-experimental quantitative methodology that involves two groups from different schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and comprises both genders of students. The research findings reveal that ChatGPT has significantly improved the academic performance of both male and female students, with a slightly greater improvement observed among the latter, as indicated by the pre-test and post-test scores. Moreover, the experiments demonstrate high student engagement and interaction, which have improved their learning and achievements. The contributions and implications for research and practical applications are highlighted and discussed.

Since the emergence of the World Wide Web, various payment methods for e-commerce transactions have evolved rapidly over time, including credit cards, debit cards, smart cards, e-cash, e-checks, and e-wallets. In recent years, however, the use of cash-on-delivery (COD) has increased. This differs from all other methods of payment in terms of processing, time and place of payment, and parties involved, as well as security and privacy assurance. The aim of this article was to compare COD to other e-payment methods and to consider the implications of COD for both customers and e-vendors. The article also discusses implications for e-commerce practice and highlights areas for future research.
Effects of solder alloy, volume and pad finishes on various aspects of microstructure and the corresponding thermomechanical properties of SnAgCu solder joints were investigated. Particular attention was focused on the behavior of solder joints with interlaced Sn grain morphologies. Crossed polarizer microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize Sn grain structures. Precipitate sizes and distributions were measured using backscattered scanning electron microscopy and quantified using image analysis software. Mechanical properties including hardness and indentation creep were measured. Results show that the amount and frequency of interlacing increased as the joint size decreased, as the amount of Ag in the solder increased, and if the joint was reflowed on ENIG substrates. The interlaced structure was harder and more creep resistant compared to the common beach ball morphology. Image analysis results showed this to be related to much higher densities of secondary precipitates in the interlaced regions. A mechanistic understanding of the microstructure is discussed and recommendations are made as to the design of more reliable solder joints.
