Rogério Colaço got the Aggregation in Materials Engineering in 2012, the PhD in Materials Engineering in 2002 and the Bachelor in Metallurgic and Materials Engineering in 1991/, all at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) - University of Lisbon. Currently he is President of this Institution. We was founder member of the Bioengineering Department, vogal of the Direction of IST-ID and elected member of the Senate of University of Lisbon, representing IST at the Scientific Affairs Committee. He has 137 indexed publications (including 7 chapters of books and 2 books), about 2650 citations and an h-index of 33 (Scopus). He has 3 patents registered. He organized 11 scientific events. He supervised 11 PhD thesis (6 of them already finished). He supervised more than 20 MSc dissertations and 2 works for completion of LSc/BSc. Has received 3 awards and/or honors. Participates and/or participated as Principal investigator in 8 projects and Researcher in 9 projects. Works in the areas of Engineering and Technology with emphasis in nanotechnology. In their professional activities interacted with more than 250 collaborators. His main interests are: Biomaterials production and characterization, Controlled drug release; Mathematical models; Surface morphology and topography; Mechanical properties; Tribology; Hydrogels; Dental materials; Bone cements; Ionic liquids; eco-friendly cements.
