Research Area and Approach My primary research is in the area of cardiac remodeling in response to steroids, mental stress and exercise training. In addition, my interest is to study muscular dystrophies and potential treatments against skeletal muscle atrophy. Those interests are in alignment with our previous studies/articles. Future Research Directions I envision my future research to span across some interrelated areas. In continuation of my current focus in skeletal muscle tissue (and cardiovascular parameters), the plan is to work on the research that include the following: • effects of antioxidant interventions (pharmaceuticals and/or nutraceuticals) on pro-fibrotic markers in heart and skeletal muscle from mice with Duchenne muscular dystrophy; • effects of electrical stimulation (ES); • effects of radiation; • effects of hypoxia; • redox signaling (NADPH oxidase); • intracellular signaling pathways of atrophy and fibrosis (nNOSu, NF-k
