Prof. Dr. Vincenza Andrisano received her doctorate degree in chemistry and pharmaceutical technology from the University of Bologna (Italy) and a two-year post-lauream Diploma from Scuola di specializzazione in Scienze e tecnologie cosmetiche Università di Ferrara (Italy). She has been a visiting professor at McGill University, Division de Pharmacocinétique, Department D'Oncologie, Montréal (Canada) (1995) and at the Department of Pharmacology Georgetown University Medical Center Washington, D.C. (USA) (2000). Since 2012 she has been a full professor of medicinal chemistry at the
Department for the Quality of Life, University of Bologna. She has delivered lectures in several international symposia. Since 2005 she has been the scientific coordinator of local research programs (RFO) financed by the University of Bologna. Since 2003 she has participated in the MIUR-supported FIRB project. In 2007–2011, she coordinated a young scientists research project financed by the University of Bologna. From 2008–2011, she has been the coordinator of the Italian unit of the European FP7 research project. Her research lines are in neurodegeneration, early prevention and treatment in vitro. She is interested in monitoring the structural modifications which cause the conformational changes of beta-amyloid peptide, the inhibition of enzymes that catalyze the TAU protein hyperphosphorylation and the abnormal production of the amyloid peptide.
