Prof. Arcangelo Merla holds a Master's Degree in Physics from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Biomedical Technologies from the University of Chieti-Pescara. He is a Full Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Engineering and Geology, G. d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, where he serves as Chairperson for the B.Sc. Program in Biomedical Engineering and Chairperson for the Ph.D. Program in Digital Transition and Innovation in Health Services. From 2018 to 2021, he was appointed as Distinguished Visiting Professor at the "Brain and Language Laboratory for Neuroimaging - BL2" - Gallaudet University, Washington DC, USA. Since 2019, he has been appointed as Technology Transfer Provost for the G. d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. Since 2022, he has been Chair of the Ph.D. Program in Digital Transition and Innovation in Health Services at Telematic University Leonardo da Vinci. Since 2023, he is Chair of the B.Sc Program in Biomedical Engineering at G. d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. His research activity is in the field of biomedical and modeling imaging, with particular emphasis on infrared thermal imaging, optical imaging, and neuroscience care.
