Dr. Mahmoud is currently serving as an associate professor of Molecular Physiology (Faculty of Science) and head of Biotechnology Department (Research Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants) at Beni-Suef University (Egypt). He received his PhD in Physiology in 2012 followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the faculty of Pharmacy, Granada University (Spain), and a visiting academic position at the School of Healthcare Science, Manchester Metropolitan University (UK). He joined the Charité University Medicine-Berlin for 2 years as a fellow of Alexander Von Humboldt foundation and joined Helmholtz Center Munich in 2018. He has more than 150 publications and won many prestigious fellowship awards, such as, International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS, USA) and Alexander Von Humboldt-Stiftung fellowships. He won several prestigious awards such as the State Encouragement Award in Biological Sciences and the First-class Privilege Medal for Scientific Excellence. He has been appointed as an associate editor and lead guest editor for many journals, including Nutrition & Metabolism, Combinatorial Chemistry & High Throughput Screening, Oxidative Medicine & Cellular Longevity and others. Furthermore, he is a member in different societies, including European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), British Society for Cardiovascular Research (BSCR), Egyptian Association of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Atherosclerosis (EAEDA), Egyptian Society of Natural Toxins.
