Matus Pleva was born in Košice, Slovakia. In 2010, he graduated with a PhD. in Telecommunications at the Department of Electronics and Multimedia Communications of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Technical University of Košice. He works as an associate professor in the field of informatics and is the Head of the Department of Computer Networks. His research interests are signal and image processing, acoustic event detection, speaker recognition, speech processing, human–machine interaction, embedded systems, parallel computing, security and biometrics, computer networking, IoT, etc. He is a HiPEAC (High-Performance, Edge And Cloud computing) and ACM member. He has also participated in more than 50 national and international projects. He serves as a reviewer for Horizon projects for EC. He has published over 150 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings.
