In this work, a hydrogel system was produced via radical polymerization of N,N-dimethylacrylamide and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid in the presence of N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as a crosslinker and ammonium persulfate as an initiator. Parameters that impact the conversion of copolymerization (such as initial concentration of monomers, temperature, initiator dose, and time) were studied. The swelling degree of the hydrogel was investigated with the addition of a crosslinker and initiator at different pH levels. A hydrogel with high conversion and high swelling degree was selected to investigate their ability for adsorption of Pb(II) ions from solutions. Adsorption behavior of Pb(II) ions in a hydrogel was examined as a function of reaction time and concentration of lead ions from a solution of Pb(II) ions.

This paper deals with the potential of aggregates of surfactant and SiO2 nanoparticles as foam stabilizers for practical applications. The effects of different chain lengths and concentrations of the cationic surfactant CnTAB on the performance of CnTAB–SiO2 nanofluids are examined to gain a comprehensive understanding of their ability to stabilize foam. The results indicate enhanced foam stability in the presence of SiO2 nanoparticles. These findings help to better understand foam stabilization and its potential in various industrial applications such as enhanced oil recovery and foam-based separation processes.

Today, naturally occurring foam constituents and surface-active proteins with intriguing structures and functions are being identified from a variety of biological and chemical sources. In this paper we studied the colloid chemical properties of high-molecular natural surfactants such as keratin hydrolyzate (1.5–15%), gelatin (0.1–1%), and egg albumin (0.1–1%) in a wide concentration range. The foaming ability and foam-stabilizing properties of mixtures of these proteins were established. The high stability of foams obtained from mixtures of surfactants can be explained by the formation of mixed structured layers from the surface-active associates, promoting the thickening of foam films. The ratio of polymer mixtures was optimized (keratin (15%)-albumin (1%) (1:1)) to produce high-quality foaming agents. The foam parameters such as surface tension, capillary pressure of the Plateau-Gibbs channels, radii of curvature, critical micelle concentration, and relative viscosity were defined. The high surface activity and foam stability corresponds to a pH close to the isoelectric state of the proteins. This occurs due to the conformational changes of macromolecules of the protein at the liquid-gas interface, forming particles of colloidal size.

The interaction between nanoparticles and cationic surfactants is an exciting and emerging field in interfacial science. This area of research holds significant promise, linking fundamental principles to practical applications in a variety of industries, including chemical processes, biomedical applications and the petroleum industry. This study explores the interaction between dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DoTAB) and silica (SiO2) nanoparticles, investigating their influence on dynamic interfacial properties and foam characteristics. Through equilibrium and dynamic surface tension measurements, along with examining the dilational visco-elasticity behavior, this research reveals the complex surface behavior of DoTAB/SiO2 mixtures compared to individual surfactant solutions. The foamability and stability experiments indicate that the addition of SiO2 significantly improves the foam stability. Notably, stable foams are achieved at low SiO2 concentrations, suggesting a cost-effective approach to enhancing the foam stability. This study identifies the optimal stability conditions for 12 mM DoTAB solutions, emphasizing the crucial role of the critical aggregation concentration region. These findings offer valuable insights for designing surfactant-nanoparticle formulations to enhance foam performance in various industrial applications.

The protein obtained in the alkali hydrolysis consist of amino acid residues that are natural macromolecular surfactants and they can may be used as effective foam stabilizers. The features of dynamic surface tension and stability of foams on based of aqueous solutions of keratin hydrolyzate in a concentration range of 1-10% were studied. The relaxation time – of the adsorption layers of keratin hydrolyzate is equaled to 10-12 min. The parameters of adsorption at the liquid – gas interface were defined. The maximum surface activity, foaming and foam stability corresponds to a neutral pH close to isoelectric state of the protein. Increase the foam stability at pH ~ 7 proceeds due to the conformational changes of macro-molecules of the protein at the interface liquid – gas, forming particles of colloidal size, clogging channels Plateau-Gibbs and preventing expiration of the liquid film between.

In the work, the kinetics of the release of vitamin E and polyphyte oil from capsules was studied using synthetic and natural systems. The release of active ingredients was monitored on a Cary 50 Cons UV spectrophotometer equipped with CaryWinUV software. The kinetics of the release of vitamin E from capsules stabilized with sodium caseinate and then coated with chitosan shows a sustained prolonged release of 20% of vitamin E within 1 h, within 5 h about 45% is released, within 48 h about 80%. It was found that the efficiency of capsulation of vitamin E is higher than that of polyphyte oil, the release of vitamin E is more delayed and prolonged in comparison with polyphyte oil. The release of vitamin E from capsules stabilized with a synthetic system polymer-surfactant / vitamin E) chitosan) polystyrene sulfonate PSS was also investigated. It was determined that the release of vitamin E from capsules stabilized by a synthetic system (polymer-surfactant and coated with two layers of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte by the Layer-by-Layer method) is prolonged, within 1 h - 23% of vitamin E is released, 70% - within 12 h and 100% - within 80 h.
