Biography

Yasser Hamdi currently works as a Research Engineer at the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) in France, and is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Scientific Research (INRS‑ETE) in Quebec, Canada. Professor Yasser’s work focuses on the assessment of risks associated with natural extreme events and hazards, statistics and hydrology of extremes, modeling of the impact of climate variability and changes to hydro–meteorological variables, and modeling of uncertainties. Professor Yasser also develops tools to assist with statistical hydrology and hydrometeorology of extremes and for the analysis of variables in climate variability and change contexts. His most recent publication is “Hamdi, Y. et al: Preface: Advances in extreme value analysis and application to natural hazards, Nat. Hazards Earth Syst. Sci., 21, 1461–1465, 2021.” Currently, he is developing probabilistic risk assessment approaches in the hydro–meteorological and geotechnical fields.
