Katia Candido Carvalho graduated in Biological Sciences with a full degree from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (1999). She obtained a PhD from the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology (CAPES 7), Federal University of São Paulo, in 2004. She obtained a Post-Doctorate (2007–2009) from Fundação Antonio Prudente - Hospital A C Camargo (CAPES 7). She was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (2019). She works as a Scientific Researcher VI (since 2009) at the Structural and Molecular Gynecology Laboratory - LIM 58, of the Gynecology Discipline at HCFMUSP. She is a Collaborating Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2020 - current) and a master's and doctorate advisor for the postgraduate program of the same department. Her lines of research involve molecular analyses of female tumors, more specifically the search for markers for diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic purposes. She works on projects involving the molecular study of other female conditions. She has earned the research productivity scholarship since 2013 through the Vertente C program (PIPA) - FMUSP. She is a member of the Research Ethics Committee of Hospital das Clínicas (CAPPesq).
