Biography

Prof. Maria Michela Corsaro obtained her professional qualification in Chemistry in 1986 and completed her PhD studies in Chemical Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II in 1989. In 1990, she became a Research Associate of Organic Chemistry. In 2002, she became a full Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry. Currently, she teaches Organic Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry in Organic Chemistry. In 1988, she spent three months in the Carbohydrate Research Center directed by Prof. Peter Albersheim, Athens (Georgia), in order to improve her knowledge about instrumental and chemical methods to analyze carbohydrates. In 1989, she spent two months in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory of Prof. Egge in Bonn (Germany). Her research activity has resulted in more than 90 scientific publications in international journals and numerous oral presentations at national and international conferences. During this time, her research activity has been mainly concentrated on the structural analysis of oligo- and polysaccharides.
