Cemal BesInterstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the extra-articular involvement forms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and it is associated with increased mortality. The presence of genetic susceptibility, smoking, rheumatoid factor positivity, and the presence of anticitrulline peptide antibodies are factors contributing to the development of ILD in patients with RA. Early diagnosis and treatment of ILD contribute to the reduction of morbidity and mortality. We herein evaluated the current literature for the diagnosis and treatment of RA-associated ILD. About Me
Prof. Cemal Bes is a Doctor at the University of Health Sciences, Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital, İstanbul, Turkey. He completed his MD studies in Rheumatology, respectively, at the Medical Faculty of Abant Izzet Baysal University and Bakirkoy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, İstanbul, Turkey. Currently, He is a Researcher (Rheumatology) and also practices in Basaksehir, Turkey. His top areas of expertise are rare diseases in Rheumatology such as Vasculitis, Familial Mediterranean Fever, as well as novel therapeutic approaches like microwave ablation techniques in inflammatory arthritis. He also collaborates actively with other rheumatology departments in the data collection/curation of databases in Turkey, such as TREASURE and TRVAS. His clinical research consists of co-authoring 97 peer-reviewed articles in the past 15 years.
