M. Yasin Akhtar Raja is Professor of Physics and Optical Science & Engineering at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte, NC, USA. He joined UNC Charlotte in 1990 and since then has served in various faculty positions with leadership role in planning and program committees. His research expertise in Optical Science and Engineering spans Nanophotonic & Optoelectronic Devices and Components, Integrated Photonics and Optical Communication Networks as well as Internet of Things. He has several patents and published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and refereed conference proceedings. He has co-edited a book on “Nanotechnology for Telecommunications”, in June 2010. At UNC Charlotte, he played leading roles in establishing new graduate program MS in Appl. Phys & PhD in Optical Science & Engineering [http://opticscenter.uncc.edu]. Prior to PhD, he obtained M. Phil. (Lasers Physics) & M.Sc. (Physics) from the Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan. He started & established Int'l Conferences series, IEEE “HONET-ICT” [http://honet-ict.org ] with initial NSF seed funding.
