Biography

Yuzhou Du is an Associate Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Xi’an University of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in advanced materials engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology in 2015. From 2013 to 2014, he was a visiting student at McGill University, where he focused on high-strength magnesium alloys. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Bailing Jiang, where he pioneered novel methodologies for self-lubricating composite materials. Between 2023 and 2024, he served as a Visiting Scholar in Professor Wei Gao’s research group at the University of Auckland, contributing to innovative projects on surface engineering solutions for lightweight alloys. Du's current research portfolio encompasses wear behavior and fatigue failure in iron-based materials, as well as the development of high-performance lightweight alloys. Recognized as an innovator in materials design, he has engineered several iron-based materials that have demonstrated commercial efficacy in aluminum-processing technologies. His patented compositions have been successfully implemented in critical manufacturing components, including die-casting molds, extrusion tooling, and transmission assemblies. With more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and five granted patents, Du's work exemplifies translational materials science, systematically addressing industry challenges through fundamental research.
