Dr. Katerina Stamatelatou is an Associate Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace (Department of Environmental Engineering). She is a chemical engineer and obtained her diploma and PhD at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras. Her field of research has been focused on the development of bioprocesses and their application for valorizing organic waste/wastewater and biomass for the production of energy and materials. Her studies include the design and operation of bioreactors and the simulation of the processes. She is the co-author of 51 research papers in peer-reviewed journals (3050 citations in Scopus, excluding self-citations by all authors; h-index 26), 15 book chapters, and over 50 publications in the proceedings of international and national conferences. She is an editor at Water Science and Technology, a reviewer of more than eight journals, and a member of the scientific and/or organizing committees of eight international conferences (chairing two of them).
