Emanuele Lugato graduated in Agricultural Science at the University of Padova (Italy) in 1999. He received his PhD in Environmental Agronomy in 2005, after having completed an exchange period at the Colorado State University (USA). He has worked and collaborated with many national and international research institutions on several cross-cutting issues related to carbon and nitrogen biogeochemical cycles and natural climate solutions for climate mitigation. In 2012, he joined the European Commission, JRC, where he is currently working as Project Scientific Officer on the climate and environmental dimension of agriculture with a focus on soils. He is the author of more than 85 papers in peer review journals, including Nature and Science family journals as a leading author and a Highly Cited Researcher in 2022 and 2023.
