Deep learning (DL) has been recognized as an effective solution for automatic modulation cassification (AMC). However, most recent DL based AMC works are based on realvalued operations and representations. In this correspondence, we aim to demonstrate the high potential of complex-valuenetworks for AMC. We present the design of several key building blocks for complex-valued networks, such as complex convolution, complex batch-normalization, complex weight initialization, and complex dense strategies. We then provide a comparison study of three different neural network models and their complex-valued counterparts using the RadioML 2016.10A dataset. Our results validate the superior performance in AMC achieved by the complex-valued networks.

With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the IoT devices are increasing day by day, resulting in increasingly scarce spectrum resources. At the same time, many IoT devices are facing inevitable malicious attacks. The cognitive Radio-enabled IoT (CR-IoT) is proposed as an effective method for spectrum resource allocation and risk monitoring in the IoT. The signal detection and modulation recognition are the key technologies for CR-IoT, addressing the problem of multisignal detection and automatic modulation classification (AMC) is one of the prerequisites for realizing secure dynamic spectrum access. Based on sliding window and deep learning (DL), this study proposes a multisignal frequency domain detection and recognition method. The frequency spectrum of the time-domain overlapping signal is obtained through the fast Fourier transform (FFT), and the frequency spectrum is segmented based on the signal energy detection method. Finally a complex convolutional neural network (CNN) is constructed for the identification of signal spectrum information. The proposed method can recognize 264 time-domain aliasing and frequency-closed signals with an accuracy of 97.3% under the influence of −2 dB corresponding to the noise of the calibration signal. In addition, the proposed method eliminates the influence of bandwidth, which can effectively detect and recognize the signal types of each component in the frequency band. This method has wide applicability and provides an effective scheme for the IoT cognitive technology.

Intra-pulse modulation recognition of radar signals is an important part of modern electronic intelligence reconnaissance and electronic support systems. With the increasing density of radar signals, the analysis and processing of multi-component radar signals have become an urgent problem in the current radar reconnaissance system. In this paper, an intra-pulse modulation recognition approach for single-component and dual-component radar signals is proposed. First, in order to adapt to the time-frequency energy distribution characteristics of various radar signals, we propose to extract the time-frequency images (TFIs) of received signals by Cohen class time-frequency distribution (CTFD) with multiple kernel functions. Besides, the image processing methods are used to suppress noise and adjust the size and amplitude of the TFIs. Second, we design and pre-train a TFI feature extraction network for radar signals based on a convolutional neural network (CNN). Finally, to improve the probability of successful recognition (PSR) of the recognition system in the pulse overlapping environment, a multi-label classification network based on a deep Q-learning network (DQN) is explored. Besides, two sub-networks take TFIs based on special kernel functions as input and re-judge the recognition results of some specific signals to further enhance the recognition effect of the recognition system. The proposed approach can identify 8 kinds of random overlapping radar signals. The simulation results show that the overall PSR of dual-component radar signals and single-component radar signals can reach 94.83% and 94.43%, respectively, when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is -6 dB.

Radio frequency fingerprint (RFF), which comes from the imperfect hardware, is a potential feature to ensure the security of communication. With the development of deep learning (DL), DL-based RFF identification methods have made excellent and promising achievements. However, on one hand, existing DL-based methods require a large amount of samples for model training. On the other hand, the RFF identification method is generally less effective with limited amount of samples, while the auxiliary dataset and the target dataset often needs to have similar data distribution. To address the data-hungry problems in the absence of auxiliary datasets, in this paper, we propose a supervised contrastive learning (SCL)-based RFF identification method using data augmentation and virtual adversarial training (VAT), which is called “SCACNN”. First, we analyze the causes of RFF, and model the RFF identification problem with augmented dataset. A non-auxiliary data augmentation method is proposed to acquire an extended dataset, which consists of rotation, flipping, adding Gaussian noise, and shifting. Second, a novel similarity radio frequency fingerprinting encoder (SimRFE) is used to map the RFF signal to the feature coding space, which is based on the convolution, long-short-term-memory, and a fully connected deep neural network (CLDNN). Finally, several secondary classifiers are employed to identify the RFF feature coding. The simulation results show that the proposed SCACNN has greater identification ratio than the other classical RFF identification methods. Moreover, the identification ratio of the proposed SCACNN achieves an accuracy of 92.68% with only 5% samples.

In 21st-century society, with the rapid development of information technology, the scientific and technological strength of all walks of life is increasing, and the field of education has also begun to introduce high and new technologies gradually. Affected by the epidemic, online teaching has been implemented all over the country, forming an education model of “dual integration” of online and offline teaching. However, the disadvantages of online teaching are also very obvious; that is, teachers cannot understand the students’ listening status in real-time. Therefore, our study adopts automatic face detection and expression recognition based on a deep learning framework and other related technologies to solve this problem, and it designs an analysis system of students’ class concentration based on expression recognition. The students’ class concentration analysis system can help teachers detect students’ class concentration and improve the efficiency of class evaluation. In this system, OpenCV is used to call the camera to collect the students’ listening status in real-time, and the MTCNN algorithm is used to detect the face of the video to frame the location of the student’s face image. Finally, the obtained face image is used for real-time expression recognition by using the VGG16 network added with ECANet, and the students’ emotions in class are obtained. The experimental results show that the method in our study can more accurately identify students’ emotions in class and carry out a teaching effect evaluation, which has certain application value in intelligent education fields, such as the smart classroom and distance learning. For example, a teaching evaluation module can be added to the teaching software, and teachers can know the listening emotions of each student in class while lecturing.
