Biography

Arnould Savouré is a full professor in plant physiology at Sorbonne Université (SU) in Paris (France). During is PhD thesis, he was interested by the molecular basis of Nod signaling involved in Rhizobium-Medicago interactions. He could demonstrate that Nod factors produced by rhizobium was able to reactivate the root cell cycle machinery. After being awarded a PhD by the University of Paris Sud Orsay (France), he went as a postdoc in the Laboratory of Genetics directed by professor Marc Van Montagu at the faculty of Sciences at Ghent University (Belgium) where he became interested by the regulation of proline metabolism in plants upon water stress. After his postdoc, he obtained a full professor position in Pierre et Marie Curie University (which is now named Sorbonne Université). At the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences in Paris (iEES, SU), his research interests are on the characterization of the roles of proline accumulation upon water and salt stress as well as in plant development and to unravel the regulation of this metabolism.
