Background: Social media can significantly impact body image perception among adolescents. Objective: This study examines how exposure to fitspiration content relates to body esteem, with a focus on gender differences and BMI. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted among 211 participants using validated instruments (Body Esteem Scale, A. Sobczak’s silhouette scale). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. Results: Exposure to athletic images decreased self-esteem in 37% of participants, particularly among women (p = 0.004). Gender significantly influenced the tendency to compare oneself with athletic individuals (p = 0.02). BMI was not significantly associated with body image perception (p = 0.05). Conclusions: Gender-specific patterns in social media-related body image perception highlight the need for targeted interventions to mitigate negative impacts among young adults.

Food neophobia, defined as fear or aversion to eating new or unfamiliar foods, is a significant challenge, especially in the context of preschool children. In the scientific literature, this phenomenon is often described as a natural developmental stage, but its severity and impact on preferences and eating patterns still raise many questions. The purpose of the present study was to assess the prevalence of food neophobia in children aged 1 to 6 years and to analyze its relationship with eating habits, preferences, and eating patterns. The study was conducted using a proprietary questionnaire and validated research tools such as the Child Feeding Scale (MCH-FS) and Food Neophobia Scale (FNS). The study included 345 children, of whom 59.1% were observed to be at significant risk for food neophobia. The results of the study suggest that food neophobia is not a common phenomenon in children aged 1–2 years but becomes more pronounced later in childhood. Another important finding was that food neophobia shows a stronger association with established eating patterns than with individual taste preferences. Considering these results, this phenomenon should be considered not only as a natural part of child development, but also as a potential indicator of eating disorders that may require intervention. These findings underscore the need for further research that could deepen the understanding of the mechanisms governing food neophobia and its long-term consequences for child health.

Dzienne spożycie warzyw wyniosło 54%, a owoców nieco mniej, bo 48%. Nadmierne spożycie tłuszczów nasyconych i niewystarczające spożycie owoców i warzyw były istotnie związane ze zwiększonym ryzykiem CVDs (χ² = 34,36; p < 0,0001).Wnioski: Pomimo prawidłowych wartości BMI u badanych wyniki wskazują na potrzebę intensyfikacji działań związanych z edukacją żywieniową. Niezbilansowana dieta i nadmierne spożycie tłuszczów nasyconych uzasadniają wdrażanie działań profilaktycznych ukierunkowanych na ograniczenie ryzyka sercowo-naczyniowego i kształtowanie zdrowych nawyków wśród młodzieży.

Alcohol and psychoactive substance use disorders are major public health challenges in Poland. The COVID-19 pandemic affected both mental health and the organization of addiction treatment services. This study assessed changes in the utilization of publicly funded addiction treatment services in Poland before, during, and after the pandemic, with attention to regional differences. National Health Fund data from 2018 to 2023 were analyzed for alcohol use disorder treatment and treatment of other substance use disorders. Indicators included the number of patients, services provided, and total financial value of services. ANOVA, linear regression, and Pearson correlation analyses were performed. In 2020, the number of patients and services declined, particularly for non-alcohol substance treatment, followed by gradual recovery in 2021–2023. Significant regional differences were observed (p < 0.001), while differences between years were not significant. The financial value of services increased significantly over time, and strong positive correlations were found between patients, services, and costs. The pandemic temporarily reduced access to addiction treatment services in Poland. Although service utilization recovered over time, regional inequalities and increasing treatment costs persisted, highlighting the need to improve accessibility and resilience of addiction care systems.
