Information security is one of the most important factors to be considered when secret information has to be communicated between two parties. Cryptography and steganography are the two techniques used for this purpose. Cryptography scrambles the information, but it reveals the existence of the information. Steganography hides the actual existence of the information so that anyone else other than the sender and the recipient cannot recognize the transmission. In steganography the secret information to be communicated is hidden in some other carrier in such a way that the secret information is invisible. In this paper an image steganography technique is proposed to hide audio signal in image in the transform domain using wavelet transform. The audio signal in any format (MP3 or WAV or any other type) is encrypted and carried by the image without revealing the existence to anybody. When the secret information is hidden in the carrier the result is the stego signal. In this work, the results show good quality stego signal and the stego signal is analyzed for different attacks. It is found that the technique is robust and it can withstand the attacks. The quality of the stego image is measured by Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index Metric (SSIM), Universal Image Quality Index (UIQI). The quality of extracted secret audio signal is measured by Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Squared Pearson Correlation Coefficient (SPCC). The results show good values for these metrics

The increasing frequency of droughts and floods due to climate change has severely affected water resources across the globe in recent years. An optimal design for the scheduling and management of irrigation is thus urgently needed to adapt agricultural activities to the changing climate. The accurate estimation of reference crop evapotranspiration (ET0), a vital hydrological component of the water balance and crop water need, is a tiresome task if all the relevant climatic variables are unavailable. This study investigates the potential of four ensemble techniques for estimating precise values of the daily ET0 at representative stations in 10 agro-climatic zones in the state of Karnataka, India, from 1979 to 2014. The performance of these models was evaluated by using several combinations of climatic variables as inputs by using tenfold cross-validation. The outcomes indicated that predictions of ET0 by all four ensemble models based on all climatic variables were the most accurate in comparison with other input combinations. The random forest regressor was found to deliver the best performance among the four models on all measures considered (Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency, 1.0, root-mean-squared error, 0.016 mm/day, and mean absolute error, 0.011 mm/day). However, it incurred the highest computational cost, whereas the computational cost of the bagging model for linear regression was the lowest. The extreme gradient-boosting model delivered the most stable performance with a modified training dataset. The work here shows that these models can be recommended for daily ET0 estimation based on the users’ interests.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a diabetic microvascular complication often characterized by an unpredictable progression. Hence, early detection and recognition of patients vulnerable to progression is crucial. To develop a prediction model to identify the stages of DKD and the factors contributing to progression to each stage using machine learning. A retrospective study was conducted in a South Indian tertiary care hospital and collected the details of patients diagnosed with DKD from January 2017 to January 2022. Bayesian optimization-based machine learning techniques such as classification and regression were employed. The model was developed with the help of an optimization framework that effectively balances classification, prediction accuracy, and explainability. Of the 311 patients diagnosed with DKD, 227 were selected for the study. A system for predicting DKD has been created for a patient dataset utilizing a variety of machine-learning approaches. The eXtreme gradient (XG) Boost method excelled, achieving 88.75% accuracy, 88.57% precision, 91.4% sensitivity,100% specificity, and 89.49% F1-score. An interpretable data-driven method highlights significant features for early DKD diagnosis. The best explainable prediction model uses the XG Boost classifier, revealing serum uric acid, urea, phosphorous, red blood cells, calcium, and absolute eosinophil count as the major predictors influencing the progression of DKD. In the case of regression models, the gradient boost regressor performed the best, with an R2 score of 0.97. Machine learning algorithms can effectively predict the stages of DKD and thus help physicians in providing patients with personalized care at the right time.
