Sandra Thompson is a public health physician with experience in science, health policy and management, and research and evaluation expertise. She has been the Director of the Western Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) and Professor of Rural Health at the University of Western Australia since February 2010. Her research interests include rural and Aboriginal health, prevention and management of chronic diseases, strengthening primary health care, systems and quality improvement, the attraction/retention of health professionals in country areas, community capacity building, developing and strengthening partnerships in health program delivery, and engaging at the research–policy interface.
