A covert spoofing algorithm of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based on GPS/INS integrated navigation is analyzed in this paper. The proposed algorithm theoretically proves the fact that: when the acceleration component of the counterfeit GPS signal is the difference between the UAV's current acceleration and the spoofing control input, the UAV can be covert spoofed. To avoid adverse consequences (detection or crash) caused by frequent changes in UAV flight during the GPS spoofing attacks, the proposed algorithm requires that the deception trajectory planned by the GPS spoofer is slowly changing relative to the reference trajectory which is pre-set by the UAV. Simulation results have verified the correctness of the proposed covert spoofing algorithm of UAV. Moreover, the spoofing effect is more distinct when the deception trajectory planning is considered.

For autonomous driving, it is important to navigate in an unknown environment. In this paper, we propose a fully automated 2D simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) system based on lidar working in large-scale outdoor environments. To improve the accuracy and robustness of the scan matching module, an improved Correlative Scan Matching (CSM) algorithm is proposed. For efficient place recognition, we design an AdaBoost based loop closure detection algorithm which can efficiently reject false loop closures. For the SLAM back-end, we propose a light-weight graph optimization algorithm based on incremental smoothing and mapping (iSAM). The performance of our system is verified on various large-scale datasets including our real-world datasets and the KITTI odometry benchmark. Further comparisons to the state-of-the-art approaches indicate that our system is competitive with established techniques.

Strapdown three-axis magnetometer is widely used to determine the heading angle of a vehicle to which it is attached. Unfortunately, the outputs of three-axis magnetometer are often distorted by various magnetic field sources. Therefore, a calibration procedure must be performed before it is used. This paper presents a new calibration algorithm to determine calibration parameters based on a constrained total least-squares (CTLS) technique. A Newton iteration method is utilized to determine the CTLS solution. Unlike existing calibration algorithms, the proposed algorithm yields efficient estimates without assuming a priori knowledge of the noise distribution. Thus, it is easily implemented and suitable for practical applications. The results of simulations and experiments reveal the superiority of the proposed algorithm to the compared algorithms.

Inertial navigation systems and gravimeters are now routinely used to map the regional gravitational quantities from an aircraft with mGal accuracy and a spatial resolution of a few kilometers. However, airborne gravimeter of this kind is limited by the inaccuracy of the inertial sensor performance, the integrated navigation technique and the kinematic acceleration determination. As the GPS technique developed, the vehicle acceleration determination is no longer the limiting factor in airborne gravity due to the cancellation of the common mode acceleration in differential mode. A new airborne gravimeter taking full advantage of the inertial navigation system is described with improved mechanical design, high precision time synchronization, better thermal control and optimized sensor modeling. Apart from the general usage, the Global Positioning System (GPS) after differentiation is integrated to the inertial navigation system which provides not only more precise altitude information along with the navigation aiding, but also an effective way to calculate the vehicle acceleration. Design description and test results on the performance of the gyroscopes and accelerations will be emphasized. Analysis and discussion of the airborne field test results are also given.
