New technologies and product developments are the core for small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) to maintain their long-term competitiveness. A framework which links enterprise management to product technological developments is provided via longterm product and technology plans. The goal is to plan products which satisfy customer requirements and to ensure technologies and products are developed timely and it is also an important topic to fit in with the market trend. This study began with research references related to resources, core technological values, innovative product benefits, and marketing strategies for SMEs. The analyses include the establishment of new business, development of core technical capability and cross-platform products, and a successful business model of brand marketing strategy. The concept of technology diamond model (TDM) was proposed to technological SMEs along with the technology, product and marketing strategy (TPM). The way of introducing this strategy into actual practices during the transformation process of SMEs was also investigated. The purpose is to provide a systematic process so as to proceed with plans of product and technology developments against basic market and customer requirements. It is thus necessary to develop a set of marketing strategies which meet enterprises’ requirements so as to contribute to enterprises’ sustainable development and keep their competitiveness.

Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, windstorms, and tsunamis, can occur all over the world, and disasters caused by human factors, such as civil wars, are also a source of major disturbance. The temporary rehousing of the population is a major problem when disasters occur. The installation of the combination house is time consuming, and tents cannot be used in the event of strong rain and wind; therefore, the container house is the most effective way of solving the rehousing problem. Natural ventilation is the main factor affecting the indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and health inside a container house, and solar radiation heat can also affect temperature changes inside. The air flow field inside a dwelling is very complex, and its flow mode is affected by inlet wind speed, inlet temperature, solar radiation heat, and the size of doors and windows, etc. In this paper, the influence of natural ventilation on the ventilation inside container houses is analyzed. Assuming that there is complex fluid motion in the activity space of the container house, it is not easy to use conventional methods to predict the flow rate. Based on the correlation analysis motion between the corresponding internal flow rates, the calculation and application method of flow is simplified from the results of the wind speed coefficient obtained previously. In addition, an analysis of flow characteristics in the container house is made; simulation analysis in the container house is made by carrying out the numerical analysis of several factors, including velocity field and temperature field. The variation state of the temperature of the environment and a numerical variation of the three-dimensional space are obtained by numerical calculation; the standard k-ε turbulence model is adopted to describe the turbulence phenomena of the fluid, and the mathematical model matched by B-spline surface is used for data analysis through the surface algorithm in order to deal with complex simulation data. The research results show that, regarding the influence of natural ventilation on container houses, the ideal relative position of openings includes the combination of asymmetric windows, followed by the central positioning of the door. The four-opening configurations, where better natural ventilation performance can be achieved, are located at different diagonal positions. The average flow velocity vector form, velocity amplitude, radiation temperature distribution, and the effect of the air volume coefficient of temperature change are analyzed. The research results show that the design of container houses can meet the requirements of air flow, such as the energy consumed by the thermal comfort space. Measurements taken over time and algorithms can also check the residents’ indoor natural ventilation and provide health care by the use of various sensors.

The present study was conducted to manipulate various biomaterials to find potential hydrogel formulations through three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting fabrication for tissue repair, reconstruction, or regeneration. The hydrogels were prepared using sodium alginate and gelatin combined with different concentrations of Pluronic F127 (6% (3 g), 8% (4 g), and 10% (5 g)) and were marked as AGF-6%, AGF-8%, and AGF-10%, respectively. The properties of the hydrogels were investigated using a contact angle goniometer, rheometer, and 3D bioprinter. In addition, the osteoblast-like cell line (MG-63) was used to evaluate the cell viability including hydrogels before and after 3D bioprinting. It was found that the ratio of contact angle was lowest at AGF-6%, and the rheological results were higher for all samples of AGF-6%, AGF-8%, and AGF-10% compared with the control sample. The printability indicated that the AGF-6% hydrogel possessed great potential in creating a cell scaffold with shape integrity. Moreover, the live/dead assay also presented the highest numbers of live cells before printing compared with after printing. However, the number of live cells on day 7 was higher than on day 1 before and after printing (** p < 0.01). Therefore, the combination of AGF-6% could be developed as a biofunctional hydrogel formulation for potential tissue regeneration applications.

In this study, different designs of the opening pattern of computer fan grills were investigated. The objective of this study was to propose a simulation analysis and compare it to the experimental results for a set of optimized fan designs. The FLUENT computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation software was used to analyze the fan blade flow. The experimental results obtained by the simulation analysis of the optimized fan designs were analyzed and compared. The effect of different opening pattern designs on the resulting airflow rate was investigated. Six types of fans with different grills were analyzed. The airflow velocity distribution in the simulated flow channel indicated that the wind speed efficiency of the fan and its influence were comparable with the experimental model. The air was forced by the fan into the air duct. The flow path was separately measured by analog instruments. The three-dimensional flow field was determined by performing a wind speed comparison on nine planes containing the mainstream velocity vector. Moreover, the three-dimensional curved surface flow field at the outlet position and the highest fan rotation speed were investigated. The air velocity distribution at the inlet and the outlet of the fan indicated that among the air outlet opening designs, the honeycomb shaped air outlet displayed the optimal performance by investigating the fan characteristics and the estimated wind speed efficiency. These optimized designs were the most ideal configurations to compare these results. The air flow rate was evenly distributed at the fan inlet.

Internet of Things (IoT) has been an increasing trend in the education and industry applications. In schools and smart-manufacturing industries, learners need to study hardware, software, mechanical, and automation professional knowledge. However, there are no training systems in current market, so the cost is extremal high. This study purposes to solve the problems of start-learning restrictions, developing a low cost IoT training system for smart-manufacturing education in which learners can study remotely and easily at anytime and in any place. The IoT training system for smart-manufacturing education combined three major fields, the AC/DC power distribution system, C and Python structure-oriented programming language, and mechatronics design. The results showed a successful test and confirmed during training courses.

Products that use micro permanent magnet brushless DC (PM BLDC) motors have the advantages of being small in size, lightweight, highly efficient, and more reliable. The product trend within the electronic technology moves toward the direction of miniaturization and high quality and thus the PM BLDC motor industry has a great potential for developments. Based on a case study on the micro PM BLDC motors for driving cooling fans, this study is to investigate the way of applying a systematic design for analyzing design parameters of brushless DC motors. The objective of this study is to reduce development costs and enhance the quality of motor operations. For a conventional motor design, designers use analytical methods to analyze and calculate the design parameters and performance parameters so that they can build a mathematical model for permanent magnets. However, in reality based on the consideration of product development parameterization and design optimization, conventional methods of analyzing magnetic circuits might fail to effectively meet the project deadlines and performance requirements within this industry. Moreover, for the application of micro PM DC motors to product designs, a motor is required to meet different requirements for its design specifications depending on the characteristics of different functions or implementations. Its design parameters need to change accordingly. Therefore, by integrating an approach of magnetic circuit analysis, a process of designing motor products was firstly determined by using the FORTRAN programming language in this study so that the specifications can be stipulated for a preliminary design. After that, the operation performance was determined by calculations and a model for finite element analyses was created based on the results. The JMAG software was also used for the analysis of motor designs. This approach can enhance the efficiency of micro motor designs and analyses so as to reduce the time spent on remodeling and numerical analysis. A fast parametric design method is proposed in this study and its effects and results were further verified.
