Prof. Dr. Otto Barak is a full professor and the head of the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Novi Sad. He graduated from the Medical Faculty, University of Novi Sad, Serbia in 1998 and completed his PhD in Medicine in 2010. In 2006 and 2007, he participated in an exchange program through an international cooperation with the Moscow Medical Academy Sechenov, where he adopted the skills of analyzing heart rate variability and modeling heart rate recovery. In 2014 and 2015, he did his post-doc studies at the University of Split School of Medicine through a Marie Składowska-Curie fellowship grant, where he mastered vascular and transcranial Doppler ultrasound. The focus of Prof. Dr. Oto Barak's research is autonomic control, endothelial function, and cerebrovascular regulation in SCUBA and breath-hold diving, HIV patients, and patients with vascular inflammation. He specializes in using cutting-edge techniques in peripheral (retrograde flow, oscillatory shear) and cerebral vascular physiology (cerebrovascular autoregulation, neurovascular coupling) to describe vascular health.
