Piotr Kurcok obtained his PhD in chemical technology from the Silesian University of Technology, Poland (1989). He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Liege, Belgium in the group of Professor Robert Jerome. After habilitation in 1999, he has been an associate professor in polymer chemistry at the Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. His research is focused on degradable and biobased polymers for packaging and biomedical applications. He also has a special interest in the design and synthesis of stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems.
