The Internet of Things (IoT), as an important technical domain in the future, has received wide attention globally from different disciplines. The research output in this domain, therefore, grew rapidly in the past 10 years. This study deeply investigates the knowledge base and knowledge development trajectory of the domain since the IoT was proffered in 1999. By adopting basic statistical and keyword co-occurrence methods, the most influential countries, institutions, journals and scholars in the domain, as well as the division of core, hot keywords and subdomains, are investigated. By using the main path analysis method, a survey is conducted on the development trajectory of the domain on the basis of knowledge inheritance; the four core branches-industry, big data, cloud computing and IoT security; and the three application studies of industry, healthcare and smart city.

With the diversification of pit mine slope monitoring and the development of new technologies such as multisource data flow monitoring, normal alert log processing system cannot fulfil the log analysis expectation at the scale of big data. In order to make up this disadvantage, this research will provide an ensemble prediction algorithm of anomalous system data based on time series and an evaluation system for the algorithm. This algorithm integrates multiple classifier prediction algorithms and proceeds classified forecast for data collected, which can optimize the accuracy in predicting the anomaly data in the system. The algorithm and evaluation system is tested by using the microseismic monitoring data of an open‐pit mine slope over 6 months. Testing results illustrate prediction algorithm provided by this research can successfully integrate the advantage of multiple algorithms to increase the accuracy of prediction. In addition, the evaluation system greatly supports the algorithm, which enhances the stability of log analysis platform.

With the maturity of the Internet of Things, 5G communication, big data and artificial intelligence technologies, open-pit mine intelligent transportation systems based on unmanned vehicles has become a trend in smart mine construction. Traditional open-pit mine transportation systems rely on human power for command, which often causes vehicle delay and congestion. The operation of unmanned vehicles in an open pit mine relies on many sensors. Using big data from the sensors, we optimize vehicle paths and build an efficient intelligent transportation system. Based on large amounts of data, such as unmanned vehicle GPS data, vehicle equipment information, production plan data, etc., with the goal of reducing vehicle transportation costs, total unmanned vehicle delay time, and ore content fluctuation rate, a multiobjective intelligent scheduling model for open-pit mine unmanned vehicles was established, and it is aligned with actual open pit mine production. Next, we use artificial intelligence algorithms to solve the scheduling problem. To improve the convergence, distribution and diversity of the classical fast non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) to solve constrained high-dimensional multi-objective problems, we propose a decomposition-based constrained dominance principle genetic algorithm (DBCDPNSGA-II), retaining feasible and non-feasible solutions in sparse areas, and compare it with four other commonly-used multi-objective optimization algorithms. Simulation analysis shows our algorithm provides the best overall performance results of the multi-objective models. Furthermore, we apply intelligent scheduling models and optimization algorithms to mining practice and obtain new truck operation routes and schedules, reducing truck operation costs by 18.2%, truck waiting time by 55.5%, and ore content fluctuation by 40.3%. For open-pit mine unmanned transportation, the approach provides a variety of optimized solutions for minimum transportation costs, minimum waiting time, minimum ore content fluctuation rate, and a balance of the three indicators. Through an artificial intelligence algorithm, this study realizes intelligent unmanned vehicle path planning and improves the operation efficiency of open-pit mine intelligent transportation systems.

Surrogate-assisted optimization has attracted much attention due to its superiority in solving expensive optimization problems. However, relatively little work has been dedicated to addressing expensive constrained multi-objective discrete optimization problems although there are many such problems in the real world. Hence, a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm is proposed in this paper for this kind of problem. Specifically, random forest models are embedded in the framework of the evolutionary algorithm as surrogates to improve approximate accuracy for discrete optimization problems. To enhance the optimization efficiency, an improved stochastic ranking strategy based on the fitness mechanism and adaptive probability operator is presented, which also takes into account both convergence and diversity to advance the quality of candidate solutions. To validate the proposed algorithm, it is comprehensively compared with several well-known optimization algorithms on several benchmark problems. Numerical experiments are demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is very promising for the expensive constrained multi-objective discrete optimization problems.

As faults in the solar water heaters are structurally complicated and highly correlated, an approach of fault diagnosis on the basis of support vector machine and D-S evidence theory has been proposed in this study, attempting to enhance the system’s thermal efficiency and ensure its safety. In the approach presented, information of audio conditions, temperature at the outlet of solar thermal collectors, hourly flow and hourly heat transfer rate are accessible, which facilitate the feature evidence and are diagnosed by using “one-against-one” multi-class support vector machine. Experiments are conducted to diagnose fault information fusion and the results show that the diagnosis approach proposed in this study is of high reliability with fewer uncertainties, indicating that the approach is capable to recognize and diagnose solar water heater faults accurately.
