Jack C. Leo received his PhD in Genetics from the University of Helsinki in 2009. He worked as a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology (2011–2014) and then at the University of Oslo (2014-2016), where he became a junior group leader. In 2019, he moved to Nottingham Trent University to take up a position as Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer the following year. His research topics mainly include: protein secretion in Gram-negative bacteria, outer membrane protein biogenesis, and bacterial adhesion.
