Permeable concrete is required to have adequate strength, water permeability, and freeze-thaw resistance as pavement material. The purpose of this research is to improve the properties of fiber-reinforced permeable concrete (FRPC) based on orthogonal experimental design by adjusting water-cement ratio (w/c ), target porosity, volume content of polyacrylonitrile fiber (PANF), and polypropylene plastic fiber (PPF). Computer tomography (CT) is applied to generate the three-dimensional (3D) pore structure model of optimized FRPC for permeability prediction and seepage flow simulation by the computed fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The results show that the FRPC with w/c of 0.37, target porosity of 20%, PANF volume content of 0.16%, and PPF volume content of 0.25% can obtain reasonable strength (compressive strength>20  MPa , flexural strength>2.5  MPa ), high water permeability (permeability coefficient>20  mm/s ), and adequate frost resistance (freeze-thaw cycles>200 ). The permeability coefficient obtained by numerical simulation shows error less than 10% in comparison with experimental results. The relationship of seepage velocity and pressure gradient confirms to Darcy-Forchheimer’s law and the critical Reynolds number for optimized FRPC with aggregate sizes of 10–15  mm is 21.92.

In this study, the performance degradation law and mechanism of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars were investigated by being immersed in natural seawater (denoted as SW), saline-alkali solution (SA), or wrapped with concrete, and then submerged in natural seawater (SWC). A series of short-beam shear tests were conducted to investigate the effects of aging temperature and time on the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of GFRP bars. Microstructure changes, glass transition temperature (Tg) difference, and hydrolysis degree of GFRP bars after aging in three environments for 183 days were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Test results demonstrated that the temperature could accelerate the strength degradation of GFRP bars significantly. After 183-day aging treatment at 60 °C, the ILSS retention rates of GFRP bars in the three environments of SW, SWC, and SA were 66.41%, 53.10%, and 45.36%, respectively; and Tg was 1.7%, 7.0%, 7.8% lower than that of unconditioned sample, respectively. Meanwhile different degrees of damage, such as separation between fiber and resin and few holes in the resin, were observed on the GFRP bars in the SWC and SA environments. It was also found that irreversible hydrolysis took place in some resins. The durability prediction model of GFRP bars serving in the Yellow Sea of China was established by using Arrhenius equation, and the correlation coefficient with the test data was not less than 0.94.

Understanding the spatial and temporal distribution of irrigation water requirements is significant to realize the rational allocation of water resources and also serves as the basis for analyzing agricultural water-saving potential. This study refers to the standard irrigation regions in southwestern, northern, central, southern, and eastern Shandong province. The irrigation water requirements at 20 weather stations in Shandong Province from 1968 to 2016 were calculated, and the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics were analyzed. The results indicated the following: (a) The trend of the annual irrigation water requirements for summer maize and winter wheat showed an insignificant increase in the eastern Shandong irrigation region, a significant decline in northern and southwestern Shandong irrigation regions, and an insignificant decrease in the other irrigation regions. (b) The multi-year average irrigation water requirement for summer maize generally presents a spatial distribution characteristic which is less in the southwest, more in the northeast, less in the south, and more in the north, while the spatial distribution characteristic for winter wheat is less in the southeast, more in the northwest, less in the south, and more in the north. (c) The main meteorological factors affecting the irrigation water requirements for summer maize are precipitation and sunshine duration, while relative humidity is the main factor affecting winter wheat in Shandong Province.

Aerobic irrigation can effectively improve the oxygen environment in the root zone, and enhance crop quality and yield. However, how aerobic irrigation regulates root growth has not been elucidated. In this study, tomato plants were irrigated with three levels of oxygen (high, medium, and low) under underground drip irrigation. The morphology, activity, transcriptome, and hormone content of tomato roots under oxygen irrigation were analyzed. We found that the aeration irrigation significantly promoted root development. Notably, in the high-aeration irrigation treatment (HAI), the total root length, total surface area, total volume, and root activity were 12.41%, 43.2%, 79.1%, and 24.15% higher than in the non-aeration irrigation treatment (CK), respectively. The transcriptome of tomato roots under aeration irrigation was determined with a total of 272 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 131 up-regulated and 141 down-regulated genes. The Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis revealed that the DEGs were enriched mainly in the metabolic pathways and plant hormone signal transduction. Among the plant hormone signal transduction, 50% of DEGs belonged to IAA signal-related genes and were upregulated. LC-MS analysis showed that the content of auxin hormones in the tomato roots subjected to aeration irrigation was significantly higher than that in CK. The content of Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), Indole-3-carboxylic acid (ICA) and Indole-3-carboxaldehyde (ICAld) were 2.3, 2.14 and 1.45 times higher than those of the CK, but insignificant effects were exerted on the contents of cytokinins, salicylic acid, jasmonic acid, abscisic acid, and ethylene. Meanwhile, the key enzyme of auxin synthesis flavin monooxygenase (YUCCA) was significantly up-regulated. The aforementioned results show that aeration irrigation may promote the growth and development of roots by auxin regulation.
