Dr. Rebecca Yang is an associate professor and the leader of the Solar Energy Application Lab at RMIT University. Her current research focuses on solar energy applications in buildings and construction innovation. She actively represents Australia as an expert in International Energy Agency (IEA) collaborative programs. She is the Australian lead for the Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) Task 15, which develops the enabling framework for BIPV, and for the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) Task 66, focusing on solar energy buildings. Her leadership role in these programs has provided valuable experiences working with leading researchers in Australia and internationally. She is also a member of the National Mirror Committee for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC 82, which addresses solar photovoltaic energy systems through Standards Australia. In this capacity, she represents Australia in the development of the international standard IEC 63092 for BIPV and reviews new proposed standards under IEC TC 82. Dr. Yang is uniquely positioned to forge new directions in this field, combining advanced building design and modeling techniques with an understanding of BIPV features. She established the Solar Energy Application Lab at RMIT and has led numerous academics, research students, and research assistants across multiple projects to support energy transformation through greater solar adoption in the building sector and urban environment.
