Prof. Rita Traversi graduated in Chemistry at the University of Florence in 1995. In 2000, she obtained the title of Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Sciences at the same University. Since 1996, she has been involved in PNRA research activities. Since then, she has been involved in the development of analytical methods (ion chromatography, flow injection analysis, atomic absorption, and emission) for the measurement of chemical markers in environmental matrices, mainly from polar areas (snow and ice, atmospheric aerosol, marine sediments). Since 2002, she has been a tenured researcher in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Florence and an Associate Professor at the same University since 2018. Her research work continued with the study of atmospheric composition and chemical stratigraphy from Antarctic snow and ice to obtain information on current and past climate variations at different time scales (last decades—1 Myr) in the framework of national and international projects (PNRA, ITASE, EPICA, TALDICE, ANDRILL, HOLOCLIP).
