Prof. Dr. Yunfang Zhang is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Life Sciences and Technology at Tongji University. She received her BS from Yanbian University (2011), MSc from Anhui University (jointly trained with the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences) (2014), and PhD from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2018). During her doctoral studies, she was funded by the China Scholarship Council to conduct joint training at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Some of her research results were selected as the “Top Ten Advances in Chinese Science” and “Top Ten Advances in Chinese Life Sciences” in 2016 and she was awarded the “First Prize in Natural Science Award of the National Maternal and Child Health Science and Technology Award” in 2019. Her research interests include studying the molecular basis and regulatory network of intergenerational/transgenerational inheritance of paternally acquired traits, exploring the formation of epigenetic imprinting information in sperm and its decoding mechanism in early embryos, analyzing the role and mechanism of tsRNA and RNA modification in regulating early embryonic development and disease occurrence, and exploring the mechanism of RNA modification involved in tRNA function regulation and tsRNA biosynthesis.
