Holds a Master's degree and a doctorate in genetics from the Institute of Biosciences, Literature and Exact Sciences of the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP). She held a sandwich doctorate degree at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom (University of Leeds-UK), in the area of virology, where she developed research in cell culture for analysis of the replicative cycle of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) and treatment with potential antivirals. She did post-doctoral research at Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP) in collaboration with the University of Leeds, where she obtained experience in Safety Laboratory Level 3 (catIII or NB3). She carried out technical and scientific training for cell culture assays with viral constructs, or so-called genomic and subgenomic replicons, derived from the infectious viruses CHIKV and ZIKV at the University of Tartu, Estonia. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBIM), Federal University of Uberlandias (UFU), and a credentialed professor in the Graduate Programs in Applied Immunology and Parasitology (PIPPA) at UFU and in Microbiology at UNESP. She has experience in genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology and microbiology, with emphasis on virology, working mainly on the following topics: viruses, cell culture, antivirals, biosafety, viral genetic variability and molecular biology.
