Guido Iaccarino obtained his degree in Medicine in 1991 at the School of Medicine, Federico II University in Naples, Italy. In 1995, he specialized in Cardiology. From 1996 to 1999, he served as a research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz at Duke University, Durham, NC, USA. In 2000, he received his Ph.D. in the physiopathology of the cardiovascular and respiratory system at the Torvergata, University of Rome. He was appointed Research professor of Internal Medicine at the Federico II University of Naples in 2002 and Associate Professor in Internal Medicine at the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Salerno in 2011. During his career, he has won numerous prizes, including the Salvatore Campus Fellowship of the Italian Society of Hypertension, the Fulbright Commission Fellowship, the NATO/CNR fellowship, the National Council of Research Fellowship, the American Heart Association North Carolina Affiliate fellowship, the young researcher award of the Federico II University, the Research award of the Italian Society of Hypertension, and the Pfizer Doxazosin Award in 2001 and 2003. He has established a large network of national and international collaborations during his career and is a member of the following societies: American Heart Association, American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, European Society of Cardiology, Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, and Italian Society of Hypertension.
