Prof. Dr Abdelaziz M. Hussein graduated from the Mansoura College of Medicine in November 1997 with Very Good with Honors credentials. He finished his PhD degree in Renal Physiology in 2008 at the Urology and Nephrology Center (UNC) (WHO collaborated center), Mansoura University, Egypt. His primary research goals are directed toward understanding the mechanisms of renal ischemia/reperfusion injury. He has many publications in this field. He has shifted his research interest to the field of neuroscience, with special focus on neurodegenerative disorders such as epilepsy, Parkinsonism, and cerebral hypoperfusion, attempting to understand their underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and to develop new lines for the management of these medical problems. He has received many prizes, such as the best PhD thesis at Mansoura University, 2009; the incentive University Award, 2011; the State Award in Medical Physiology, 2015; and the State Encouragement Prize, 2016. He worked as a visiting scientist at the department of physiology and biomedical engineering, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA, in 2014.
