I work as the Head of the Tissue and Cell Bank at the Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital Centre in Zagreb. My work focuses on the development and application of advanced therapy medicinal products based on human cells and tissues, aligned with GMP and GCP standards. I specialize in the characterization and safety evaluation of autologous cells, such as limbal stem cells for corneal repair and keratinocytes for treating severe burn injuries. I also oversee the processing and preservation of human tissues for transplantation, including musculoskeletal tissue, amniotic membrane, and microfragmented adipose tissue used in osteoarthritis treatment. I am responsible for the development, validation, and implementation of laboratory methods according to ISO 15189, ISO 17025, and ISO 9001 standards, as well as the optimization of tissue engineering protocols. My work includes in vitro cultivation of human cells (osteoblasts, skeletal myoblasts, dermal fibroblasts, and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells) for clinical and research purposes. My goal is to combine scientific excellence, clinical relevance, and regulatory compliance to enable safe and effective cell- and tissue-based therapies that improve patient outcomes.
