Since 2015, Prof. Dr. Leonel J. R. Nunes has obtained a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Beira Interior and also a PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences from the University of Évora and the University of Algarve. Previously, he obtained a degree in geology (scientific branch) from the Department of Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (1996), a degree in geology from the Department of Earth Sciences of the School of Sciences of the University of Minho (2008), and a degree in engineering sciences (mining engineering and geoenvironment) from the Department of Mine Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2017). He has also collaborated as an advisor or co-advisor on several Master's and PhD dissertations at the University of Beira Interior, the University of Aveiro, the University of Porto, and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, besides collaborating on several research projects at the national institutions mentioned above but also internationally, namely Penn State University (USA) and Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam).
