Niklas obtained his PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology in Physical Chemistry with István Furó, Stockholm, Sweden. After postdoctoral research with Bradley Chmelka at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and with Sebastian Reyes at ExxonMobil Corporate Research Laboratory, Annandale, US he became an assistant professor, then an associate professor, and is currently a professor of materials chemistry at Stockholm University.
