Jennifer A McElhoe joined the Pennsylvania State University Forensic Science Program as a Research Associate in 2012, bringing a diverse background and unique perspective to the program. She holds a B.S. in Marine Science from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., an M.S. in Environmental Engineering Sciences from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL., a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) in University Park, PA, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Bioinformatics from Penn State, and most recently a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) from the University of New Haven (anticipated Oct. 2024). In her current role as an Associate Research Professor, she focuses on evaluating heteroplasmy in mitochondrial DNA, bioinformatics, and on how to apply statistical evaluation to datasets properly.
